Bottle feeding equipment
If you are bottle feeding you will need:
- At least 6 bottles
- At least 6 teats
- Sterilising equipment
- Bottle and teat brush

The right teat
Teats are available in either latex or silicone, and come in various flow rates; anti-colic teats are also available which reduce the amount of air taken in during feeding.
Generally you should use a slow flow teat if your baby is newly born, and then switch to medium flow once they have got used to bottle feeding. If your baby is older or you are confident that they can suck at the pace required for a fast flow teat then switch to this. However if your baby is making more noise than normal whilst feeding, starts choking, spluttering or if milk is leaking from their mouth, the flow is too fast, and a slower flow teat should be introduced again.

Sterilising equipment
You must sterilise bottles and teats until your baby is a year old - and it is probably best to carry on sterilising the bottles and teats all the while your baby is having a bottle. Rinse out bottles, teats, caps, covers, breast pumps etc after use and wash them thoroughly, using a bottle brush and hot soapy water. Rinse and then sterilise.
Types of sterilisers:
- Steam sterilisers
These plug in and stand on the worktop. They heat small amounts of water into steam that kills bacteria. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for use, ensuring that the openings of bottles and teats are face down in the steriliser.
- Microwave sterilisers
These work in the same way as steam sterilisers but are used in the microwave rather than being plugged in and are usually quicker than steam sterilisers.
- Cold-water sterilisers
A special tablet is added to a measured amount of water in a plastic container and the equipment is submerged in the sterilising solution sterilise it. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and make up a fresh solution every day. Ensure that all the equipment is properly submerged, with no trapped air, and is kept under the solution by means of a floating cover. Rinse bottles and teats with boiled water before use.
Away on holiday or visiting?
Microwave and steam sterilisers are quite bulky, so if you are away on holiday or visiting relatives or friends, you could take a supply of cold water sterilising tablets with you and use a container large enough to sterilise a bottle or two.
You can also obtain special disposable sterilising bags. The bottle, teat etc are placed in these shaped and strengthened bags, a small amount of water is added and then the bag is sealed and microwaved. The bag may often be re-used several times - see manufacturer's instructions.

How do I add a Baby Space entry?
You can add an entry to your Baby Space by selecting either the 'Add Entry' button on your homepage or the top-level navigation (please note you must be a member and signed in to access 'Baby Space')
Once in Baby Space you can select 'Add New Entry' from either 'Calendar View' or 'Baby Space' view. To access the Baby Space functionality you will need to have registered with HiPP Baby Club and be signed in. Please click here if you are not registered.
How do I add an image?
There are two ways to upload an image. You can either upload an image to 'Galley' which you can access by clicking 'Baby Space', located in the top level navigation.
Or you can upload an image to a Baby Space entry. See 'How to add a Baby Space entry'.
To access the Gallery/Baby Space functionality you will need to have registered with HiPP Baby Club and signed in. Please click here if you are not registered.
How do I post to a forum?
You can post to a forum by clicking ‘HiPP Chat’ in the top-level navigation.
Select the topic you would like to add a post to and click ‘post new topic’. For further questions relating to HiPP Chat please click here.

How do I register?
You can become a member of the HiPP Baby Club by clicking the ‘Join Now!’ button located on the ‘Home’ page. The ‘Home’ page can be accessed by clicking ‘Home’ in the top-level navigation

How do I invite a Guest?
Once signed into the Club, you can invite guests to view your Baby Space and Gallery by clicking on 'My Profile', located at the top of the page and then the 'add Guests' tab. Guests need to have an email address in order to view your Baby Space pages.
How do I amend my Account Details?
Go into ‘My Profile’, which is located in the top right hand corner of any HiPP Baby Club page and from within there you can amend your Account Details.
How do I opt out of Mailings?
Go into ‘My Profile’ which is located in the top right hand corner of any HiPP Baby Club page and select ‘Mailings’. Un-tick the box next to the mailings you wish to opt out of. Then click ‘save my changes’ to record the change.
How do I report a site error?
To report a site error you will need to send an email to administrator@hippbabyclub.co.uk with a description of the error you received and what you were doing when you received the error.
How do I report inappropriate content?
If there is some content that you think is inappropriate in the HiPP Chat forums please send an email to administrator@hippbabyclub.co.uk with the category name, topic name and the users chat name.

How do I delete a guest from viewing my Baby Space/Gallery
Select 'my profile' at the top of your club page. Select the 'guests' tab. You can delete a guest or guests by clicking 'delete this guest'. This will mean that they can no longer view your Baby Space or photos.
How do I delete my guest status?
Select 'my profile' at the top of your club page. Select the 'guests' tab. You can then delete yourself from viewing this member's Baby Space. This will mean you can no longer view their Baby Space or photos and their guest status will disappear from your Baby Space list.
